Gold Coast Community

The NAME says it all!!  From the beginning, only the most powerful and affluent people resided in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood.  Icons such as-Potter Palmer, Archbishop Patrick Feehan, The Hugh Hefner, Kenneth Goodman, Joseph Medill, Cyrus McCormick, Levi Leiter, and Marshall Field have all been residents at one time or another.  The Gold Coast offers the finest shopping, dining and entertainment in the city of Chicago. With the inclusion of the Streeterville and Mag Mile neighborhoods, Chicago’s finest luxury real estate is located here.  This is the wealthiest neighborhood in the City by far.

The finest shopping strip west of Park Avenue, North Michigan Avenue’s Mag Mile is home to some of the biggest names in the business- Macy’s, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Chanel, and Prado to name a few. Don’t forget Oak Street and its famous boutique designers including Vera Wang, Kate Spade, Hermes, Lester Lampert and more.  If that’s not enough, there’s always Barney’s of New York and the unbelievable in-door mall, Water Tower Place.  Eight exquisite floors of shopping and eating with more than 120 specialty shops, seven cinemas, and several choices in restaurants conveniently located right next to the Ritz Carlton Hotel.  Gold Coast’s shops not only call to the locals but the tourists alike. Weekends can be crazy and a little chaotic, but there really is no better place for shopping, fashion, and style than the Gold Coast.

Besides shopping, Gold Coast offers wonderful fine dining and entertainment with spectacular restaurants like Spiaggia, Table 52, Morton’s, and Nomi at The Park Hyatt down to the world famous “Gold Coast Dogs” hot dog joint.  The nightlife is great in Chicago, with many clubs open until the early morning hours.  Depending on the kind of music, you prefer, you can choose from rock to rap to blues to jazz.

Streeterville is located within the Gold Coast between Michigan Avenue and the lake, urban living at its most elegant.  Luxurious offices everywhere, a high level of advertising agencies and major media firms are located in this neighborhood.  Here you will also find shops like Niketown, The Disney Store, and Burberry’s.  One of the best features of Streeterville is its association with the Museum of Contemporary Art and Northwestern University’s downtown campus and medical center.

Speaking of education, besides Chicago’s public schools, you can choose from private and parochial schools.  Schools such as Montessori School Near-North, Latin School of Chicago, Francis Parker School, Quigley Seminary North and St. Ignatius College Prep to name a few.

As far as recreation goes, there is an endless myriad of things to do.  You have swimming and boating, jogging paths, and bike trails.  There is The Lincoln Park Zoo, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Art Institute, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, and many more that promote fun and learning for every age.

Public transportation-taxis, buses, subways, elevated trains, and expressways make it easy to get around the city and to and from the suburbs.
